February RoundUp

February was a very productive month for the group as we came off the back of raising over £1800 for the RBL during our charity stream. Not only has Esports been accepted a a Corps Representative sport, but engagement between us and RHQ is beginning to rise. News is now reaching the REME battalions and the initial sounds of support are good, keep an ear out for more updates.

On the competitive side our CoD sides have torn through every opponent they have faced. Whilst they must ensure they stay humble in light of the success, we also remember what it feels like to be on the receiving end of harsh results. My advice would be to stay quiet, let your thumbs do the talking and see where the season pans out over the coming month. Above all, enjoy the competition, win or lose.

It has been a bit more mixed fortunes for the CS:GO and League of Legends sides. Both teams have experienced highs and lows however, signs of improvement and consistency are showing. I believe if we could get more people involved in these sides building towards LL Season 4, we should see great benefits in team comp and overall performance. Keep fighting to the last game for every point and position.

February also saw the benefits of our partnership with OMEN by HP and AMD payoff. We took delivery of our first Desktop to be owned by our club that will form the basis of LAN events in future. In the current climate of component availability, receiving a PC valued at £1300 for nothing is a massive boost to our profile. I must admit, it was a pleasure to figure it out and get it setup (selfishly) and to conduct the first twitch stream on it. I'm also going to be sad to see it leave my garage and end up in a room within Lyneham. Remember, once this happens, it will be available to all to book for streams or even just casual PC gaming. It might tempt the console community to make the transition to PC. If you are looking at getting your own PC or upgrading, message in the #share-your-pc-setup page on the REME Esports discord channel for advice, it could save you money or get you more bang for your buck.

And finally, whilst it was a bit scuffed, we conducted our first giveaway stream in the channel's short history. The support for the twitch channel has been extraordinary and games like Marbles has really brought the community together. Besides that, the banter between everyone has been awesome, I would just remind you that subscriptions are appreciated but please be careful when gifting them, they can get very expensive and we don't want to be creating "hungry soldiers" by peoples generosity and enthusiasm. I would encourage anyone who has not popped along to do so and enjoy my dulcet tones, also feel free to troll my continuous use of the "Errrrm" term.

In terms of prizes, congratulations to ZombiePie for winning the £40 steam voucher, which has been received and used to purchase Valheim I believe. JuicynotKatie's mug went in the post today and Sxudge should receive his t-shirt in a few weeks once I've put the order together with a couple of other items. I will try to be more inventive next month with the giveaway in the ways you can earn points, how winners are decided and the uniqueness of the prizes available.

Speaking of shirts, keep an eye on this website for updates soon! Thanks for all the support you bloody legends, lets keep the momentum going.
